Nippon Chemi-Con has developed AEC-Q 200 compliant radial lead type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors KXQ Series for OBCs (onboard chargers).

Battery capacitance of EVs and PHEVs tends to increase year by year to extend their range.

Therefore, the power output of OBCs is also increasing, and aluminum electrolytic capacitors for power supply voltage filtering are required to have even higher capacitance.

Nippon Chemi-Con has already developed the KXJ and KXN Series for general-purpose power supplies which are well received. However, due to the background mentioned above, we have developed and commercialized the high-capacitance and highly reliable KXQ Series as a product that takes into consideration a more severe usage environment.

Technical Features

The KXQ Series has achieved a maximum capacitance increase of approximately 60% compared to the conventional series (KXJ) by using Nippon Chemi-Con's newly developed aluminum electrode foil with a larger surface area.

As OBCs often use many products in parallel, Nippon Chemi-Con has taken this into account for the design specification.

Samples

The KXQ Series is already available as samples, and mass production has scheduled to start in December 2020.

This product has manufactured at the Iwate Plant of Chemi-Con East Japan Corp. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Chemi-Con)
