Nippon Chemi-Con Developed HXD and HSD Series Conductive Polymer Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors by Adding 80V Rated Voltage Products
Nippon Chemi-Con has developed new products with a rated voltage of 80V for SMD type conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors HXD Series and radial lead type HSD Series, achieving even higher capacitance and withstand voltage. They support server applications for 48V systems in next-generation data centers.
Traditionally, aluminum electrolytic capacitors were the main choice for 48V power supplies in servers. However, by using the newly developed conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors, a large increase in tolerable ripple current (by several times compared to aluminum electrolytic capacitors) can be expected, making it possible to reduce the number of capacitors and leading to the downsizing of devices.
conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors use both conductive polymers and liquid electrolytes as electrolytes. As a result, in addition to the low ESR characteristics and excellent heat resistance due to the conductive polymer, they also have repairability of oxide layers due to the electrolyte. These characteristics have enabled the development of products with low ESR, high reliability and high withstand voltage.
In the development of the 80V products for the HXD Series and HSD Series, we achieved high reliability and high withstand voltage by optimizing electrode foils and conductive polymer materials while seeking a capacitance equivalent to 140% of that of the conventional HXA Series products.
