Nippon Chemi-Con has developed Radial Lead Type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors LBV Series for automotive SRS airbag systems.

Against the backdrop of an increase in the number of airbags installed per vehicle and the time extension of microcomputer event recorders, there is a demand for higher capacitance of aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

In response to this demand, Nippon Chemi-Con has commercialized the LBG Series and the LBK Series which have been well received. However, anticipating growth in demand for even higher capacitance in the future, we have decided to develop and commercialize the LBV Series, which achieves higher capacitance than the conventional series.

The LBV Series offers a maximum 30% increase in capacitance compared to conventional products (LBK Series). The design specifications are also designed to meet requirements such as charge-discharge resistance frequently required for airbag applications and sustenance of low ESR characteristics in low-temperature environments (up to -55℃).

Furthermore, these products are compliant with AEC-Q200.

[Technical Features]

The LBV Series has achieved a higher capacitance than conventional products by adopting self-developed aluminum electrode foil with a larger surface area.

[Samples]

The LBV Series is already available as samples. Mass production started in December 2018 at Chemi-Con Iwate Corp. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Chemi-Con)
