Nippon Chemi-Con provided samples of Screw Terminal Type Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors with a rated voltage increased to 750V. 


Nippon Chemi-Con currently mass-produce the RHB Series (575V to 700V) which has the highest withstand voltage among capacitors of the same type. However,Nippon Chemi-Con succeeded in further raising the withstand voltage and have decided to add 750V rated voltage products to the RHB Series. 


A rated voltage of 750V is the highest withstand voltage in the industry. Furthermore, the products have high capacitance and high energy (a capacitance of 3,000µF for φ89 x 160 Lmm size products) and they now support 800V surge voltage. 


The RHB Series 750V products (hereinafter, these products) were developed mainly for applications such as X-ray power supplies and pressing machines which require instantaneous high energy in capacitor banks. Since aluminum electrolytic capacitors have a higher capacitance per volume than film capacitors, using these products offers benefits such as smaller capacitor banks, lighter weight and lower costs. 


These products are also expected to be used as filtering capacitors for inverters like the 700V or lower products that are already being mass-produced. As an example of applications, we are considering proposals as DC link capacitors for solar power generation systems (system voltage 1500V) and wind power generation systems. At present, these products guarantee 2,000 hours at 85℃, but to make them applicable to these applications, Nippon Chemi-Con will consider further extension of life. 


In addition, Nippon Chemi-Con will propose replacing designs of two capacitors in series in equipment with just one of these products. The advantage of reducing the number of series is that the number of balanced circuits and bus bars may be reduced and reliability as a capacitor bank may be improved (due to the highly reliable design of the capacitor itself, reduction in the number of parts, and the need to maintain the voltage balance becoming unnecessary). 


[Technical Features] 

Nippon Chemi-Con has realized this product by combining aluminum electrode foil newly designed to realize high capacitance in an ultra-high withstand voltage region of 700V or more, electrolyte with higher breakdown voltage by using our original high voltage resistance technology, and high-density separators with special processing. In addition to the combination of these high-performance materials, a robust design has been applied to realize capacitors with high reliability even with high voltage and high energy.
