MindMotion announced its new value-line MM32G0001 microcontrollers. Earlier in 2023, MindMotion had announced its MM32G family, and has since released the G0140, G0160, and G5330 series products. In order to further enrich the MM32G series product portfolio, MindMotion collaborated with upstream and downstream partners to create an entry-level, highly competitive MM32G0001 MCU series. The MM32G0001 MCU series is equipped with a 48MHz Arm® Cortex®-M0 core, providing 16KB Flash and 2KB SRAM, as well as rich peripheral resources. The MM32G0001 MCU series is suitable for a wide range of entry-level 32-bit MCU markets and can cover a wide range of upgrade needs for 8/16-bit MCUs.

Optimizing process technology and reducing production costs to help upgrade 8/16-bit MCUs.

ARM-based 32-bit MCUs have been in the market for nearly 20 years. Currently, 32-bit MCUs have gradually covered all aspects of the application market. However, it cannot be ignored that 8/16-bit MCUs, due to their low cost, ease of use, and small package size, still firmly occupy the main position in the entry-level MCU market. Although many 32-bit MCU manufacturers have introduced replacement products for their 8/16-bit counterparts, they have been unable to completely shake the low-cost advantage of 8-bit microcontrollers due to factors such as price and ease of use. However, we have also observed that many mainstream 8/16-bit MCU products have some obvious features, such as using relatively traditional processes, configuring EEPROM, providing a few KB of small-capacity flash, or even OTP (one-time programmable) or MTP (multi-time programmable) with a few tens or hundreds of times, and smaller SRAM configurations, such as a few hundred bytes. With the development of technology, the cost disadvantage of older processes is becoming more and more prominent. Small flash and EEPROM implementations are no longer economical in advanced processes. Therefore, from a technological perspective, the development of 8/16-bit MCUs has reached a bottleneck. With the development of advanced processes, 32-bit MCUs have the opportunity to use the latest technology to achieve costs comparable to or even better than 8/16-bit MCUs.

Observing the above trends, MindMotion worked closely with its partner Shanghai Huahong Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation ("HHGrace"), relying on the optimization of HHGrace's more than 20 years of solid and reliable embedded flash memory technology, the use of a more stable and large-scale mass-verified 12-inch wafer process platform, the function, performance and cost of the product have been polished in an all-round way, and this cost-effective MM32G0001 series MCU product has been launched under the premise of maintaining the quality goal of MM32.

Unlike some embedded MCU products on the market that experience code loss or reduced read/write times in low- or high-temperature environments, MM32G0001 has been fully verified for its flash erase/write life, data retention capacity, anti-interference capability, and chip reset reliability in various temperature ranges.

MM32G0001 product configuration and features

The MM32G0001 has the following brief configuration:

· Core: Arm Cortex-M0, with a maximum frequency of 48MHz

· Storage: 16KB Flash, 2KB SRAM

· Communication interfaces: 2 sets of USART interfaces, supporting 3-wire SPI mode; 1 set of SPI interface, with a master mode speed of up to 24Mbps; 1 set of I²C interface

· Timers: 3 sets of 16-bit timers, including 1 set of advanced timers that can output 4 complementary PWM signals; 1 independent clock watchdog

· Analog: 1 set of 12-bit 8-channel ADC, with a maximum speed of 1MSPS

· Compatibility: Pin compatible with the MM32F0010 series

While providing ultimate cost-effectiveness, the MM32G0001 also ensures stable and reliable product quality and has undergone extensive testing and verification. As the preferred choice for upgrading 8/16-bit MCUs, the MM32G0001 has the following outstanding features:

· High frequency: Performance is improved by 3-4 times compared to common 8/16-bit MCUs

· Large SRAM: The Flash: SRAM ratio is 8:1, meeting the upgrading needs

· 100,000 erase cycles: Flash supports 100,000 erase cycles, can replace on-chip EEPROM, and provides convenience and robustness for many users who use 8/16-bit OTP/MTP MCUs to upgrade code

· Rich communication interfaces: Provides a variety of interfaces that can be flexibly configured: 2 optimized USARTs, 1 SPI, and 1 I²C, making it easy to implement various interface-class applications, such as USART to SPI, USART to I²C, SPI IO expansion, and I²C IO expansion

· High-speed ADC: 12-bit ADC with a sampling rate of up to 1MSPS, without sacrificing analog performance

· Can drive three-phase motors: Provides three-phase complementary PWM outputs, supports hardware dead zone

· Built-in high-precision clock: Deviation does not exceed ±2% over the full temperature range

· Maximum 105℃Tj junction temperature range

· ±5KV HBM ESD, ±2KV CDM ESD, ±300mA high-temperature Latch-Up clamp value

· Wide voltage design of 2.0-5.5V: Suitable for various power supply voltage scenarios

MM32G0001 product portfolio

The product portfolio for the MM32G0001 includes three package options: TSSOP20, QFN20, and SOP8. It is available in -40~85℃ industrial grade and -20~70℃ consumer grade temperature options. There are currently five part numbers available for selection.

Additionally, MM32G0001 supports the customization of common small-pin packages such as DFN, DIP, and SOP for specific customers and applications.

The product combinations for MM32G0001 are as follows:

The availability and support of the product

In terms of hardware, MM32G0001 is supported by two types of development boards:

· Mini-G0001 Mini Board:

Equipped with board-level I²C EEPROM, PWM speaker, SPI flash, ADC potentiometer, and other debugging functions, used in conjunction with LibSamples

· FTHR-G0001 Lightweight Board:

Equipped with USB Type-C board-level debugging function (based on MM32F0160), with all pins extracted, used in conjunction with LibSamples

The official debugger MM32-LINK Mini from MindMotion now fully supports the MM32G0001 series. Additionally, major development design tools and programmer manufacturers have also implemented support for MM32G0001.
