Nisshinbo Releases the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 Series, 5V Analog Front End with High Precision 16/20/24-Bit A-D Converter
Nisshinbo Micro Devices released the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series, a 5V Analog Front End (AFE) with high precision 16/20/24-Bit A-D converter for industrial equipment.
In recent years, the industrial equipment market has seen rapid progress in the automation of manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency, enhance quality, and compensate for labor shortages. Sensors are essential to such automation, and the demand for sensors is expected to grow. However, since the design of sensor circuits is time-consuming in terms of setting constants, the problem arises that the design time increases significantly.
The NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series (16-bit/20-bit/24-bit) incorporates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) of up to 128 times and a multiplexer, and multiple sensors can be used in combination. This solves the problem of increased work hours for constant adjustment. It also supports a 5 V operating, making it an ideal AFE for microcontroller-based systems. The package size of 4.0 × 4.0 × 0.7 mm contributes to system miniaturization.
Features
1. AFE with High Precision A-D Converter
The industrial equipment market often requires high-resolution measurements and uses 16-bit to 24-bit A-D converters. Since the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series features 16-bit (NA2202), 20-bit (NA2203), and 24-bit (NA2204) resolution, and pin-compatible with each other, the same board can be used for different system resolution requirements. This can reduce development time and increase system flexibility.
As shown in Figure 1, the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series offers a choice of products according to the resolution required for various systems.

2. Ideal for Industrial Equipment Market Thanks to Support of 5 V (or ±2.5 V) Operating Voltage
Microcontrollers with 5 V operating voltage are still widely used in the industrial equipment market. In order to transmit sensor information as accurately as possible, AFEs must operate at the same voltage as the microcontroller. Since the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series supports a 5 V operation, it is an ideal AFE for microcontroller-based systems.
3. Helps Miniaturize Applications with Small Package
As shown in Figure 2, the NA2202/NA2203/NA2204 series incorporates not only a ΔΣ type A-D converter but also a PGA of up to 128 times, two excitation current systems for sensors, and a high-precision reference voltage (switchable to external supply) for the A-D converter. In addition to incorporating peripheral functions, the small package contributes to the reduction of board area and thus to the miniaturization of products.
