CXW has launched a highly integrated car fast charging charger chip CX8830, which only requires 11 peripherals to achieve fast charging function. It also supports 7 charging protocols such as QC3.0, QC2.0, FCP, AFC, APPLE 2.4A, BC1.2, USB DCP, etc. The car charging PCBA design is very streamlined, reducing BOM costs and accelerating the product's launch cycle.
We all know that the CX8830 has a high level of integration and a very simple peripheral, but what is the actual compatibility of the product? To verify this issue, the Charging Head Network conducted compatibility tests on 29 devices of the CX8830 car charging DEMO. Let's take a look together.
1、 CX8830 car charging DEMO appearance

The front of the CX8830 car charging DEMO can be seen, except for the positive and negative poles and USB-A output interface, there are only 2 capacitors and 1 inductor, which is very streamlined.

The back is also very simple, with only 9 resistive and capacitive components on the periphery of the CX8830. The product design is simple, the BOM cost is low, and it is conducive to accelerating product launch.

CX8830 is a step-down DC-DC converter with an input withstand voltage of up to 32V and the ability to achieve precise constant voltage and current; Built in 50m Ω High side PMOS and 30m Ω Low side NMOS, it can support 3A continuous output current and adjustable output voltage, with a maximum support of 100% duty cycle.
CX8830 has high-performance load response and input voltage response capabilities, while precise constant voltage and constant current control loops achieve minimal load adjustment and linear adjustment rates; Without external compensation, it can rely on its built-in stable loop to achieve constant current and constant voltage control, and also has cable voltage drop compensation function.
CX8830 is equipped with various fast charging protocols such as Huawei FCP protocol, Qualcomm QC2.0/3.0 Class A, BC1.2, USB DCP, and can automatically switch between QC2.0, QC3.0, and FCP fast charging, making it compatible with most mobile phone charging on the market.
CX8830 can provide various protection functions such as short circuit protection (SCP), overheat protection (OTP), overvoltage protection (OVP), Undervoltage protection (UVLO), etc. It is a highly integrated and stable on-board fast charging chip.

Use ChargerLAB POWER-Z KT001 to detect the output fast charging protocol of the Chengxin Micro CX8830 car charging DEMO, and display support for charging protocols such as APPLE 2.4A, USB DCP, QC2.0, QC3.0, AFC, FCP, etc.

In order to more accurately reflect the actual compatibility of the CX8830 and to be closer to the user's actual usage scenarios, the Charging Head Network conducted a real machine test on the CX8830 car charging DEMO, testing mainstream brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple, and other products such as phones, tablets, and mobile power supplies. Below, we will take a look at the detailed compatibility test results:
1. CX8830 car charger DEMO compatible List of Xiaomi products test
Use CX8830 car charging DEMO to charge Xiaomi 9, and use KT001 to test the charging parameters. The charging voltage is 8.67V, the current is 1.85A, and the charging power is about 16.08W. It supports Xiaomi 9 to activate the QC3.0 fast charging protocol.
Charging Xiaomi 8, the measured charging voltage is 6.5V, the current is 2.66A, and the charging power is about 17.35W. It supports Xiaomi 8 to activate the QC3.0 fast charging protocol.
Charging Xiaomi 6, the measured charging voltage is 6.71V, the current is 2.51A, and the charging power is about 16.87W. It supports Xiaomi 6 to activate the QC3.0 fast charging protocol.
Charging Xiaomi 5, the measured charging voltage is 6.11V, the current is 2.58A, and the charging power is about 15.79W. It supports Xiaomi 5 to activate the QC3.0 fast charging protocol.
2. CX8830 car charging DEMO compatible with Huawei mobile phone testing
The CX8830 car charger DEMO charges the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (UD), with a measured charging voltage of 9.07V, a current of 1.52A, and a charging power of approximately 13.84W. It supports fast charging of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (UD).
Charging the Huawei Mate 9, the measured charging voltage is 9.06V, the current is 1.86A, and the charging power is approximately 16.91W. It supports fast charging of the Huawei Mate 9.
Charging the Huawei P30 Pro, the measured charging voltage is 9.08V, the current is 1.19A, and the charging power is approximately 10.84W. It supports fast charging of the Huawei P30 Pro.
Charging Huawei P20 Pro, the measured charging voltage is 9.09V, the current is 1.32A, and the charging power is about 12W. It supports Huawei P20 Pro to enable fast charging.
Charging Huawei P10, the measured charging voltage is 9.07V, the current is 1.81A, and the charging power is approximately 16.44W. It supports Huawei P10 to enable fast charging.
Charging Honor 8, the measured charging voltage is 9.08V, the current is 1.47A, and the charging power is about 13.37W. It supports Honor 8 to start fast charging.
3. CX8830 car charging DEMO compatible with Samsung mobile phone testing
The CX8830 car charger DEMO charges the Samsung S10 Plus, with a measured charging voltage of 9.07V, a current of 1.62A, and a charging power of approximately 14.77W. It supports fast charging of the Samsung S10 Plus.
Charging the Samsung Note 9, the measured charging voltage is 9.09V, the current is 1.12A, and the charging power is approximately 10.19W. It supports fast charging of the Samsung Note 9.
Charging the Samsung S8 plus, the measured charging voltage is 9.08V, the current is 1.25A, and the charging power is approximately 11.41W. It supports fast charging of the Samsung S8 plus.
4. CX8830 car charging DEMO compatible iPhone test
The CX8830 car charger DEMO charges the iPhone X with a measured charging voltage of 5.15V, a current of 2.34A, and a charging power of approximately 12.11 W. It supports the iPhone X to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode, and the charging speed is about twice that of the standard phone charger.
Charging the iPhone Xs, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.35A, and the charging power is approximately 12.15W. It supports the iPhone Xs to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
Charging the iPhone Xs MAX, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.35A, and the charging power is approximately 12.13W. It supports iPhone Xs entering the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
Charging the iPhone Xr, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.35A, and the charging power is approximately 12.15W. It supports the iPhone Xr to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
5. CX8830 car charging DEMO compatible iPad test
The CX8830 car charger DEMO charges the iPad Pro, with a measured charging voltage of 5.15V, a current of 2.32A, and a charging power of approximately 12W. It supports the iPad Pro to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
Charging the iPad Air3, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.32A, and the charging power is about 12W. It supports the iPad Air3 to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
Charging the iPad Air2, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.43A, and the charging power is approximately 12.57W. It supports the iPad Air2 to enter the APPLE 2.4A charging mode.
Charging the iPad mini5, the measured charging voltage is 5.15V, the current is 2.31A, and the charging power is about 12W. It supports the iPad Air3 to enter the Apple 2.4A charging mode.
We have tested four List of Xiaomi products, five Huawei mobile phones, three Samsung mobile phones, four iPhones and four iPads. From the test results, it can be seen that the CX8830 car charging DEMO can achieve fast charging for 12 mainstream models of smartphones such as Xiaomi, Huawei, and Samsung; When charging four iPhones, the power can also reach 12W, and the speed is twice that of the standard charger; The charging power of the iPad can also reach a level comparable to the standard charger. 6. CX8830 car charging DEMO compatible mobile power test
CX8830 car charging DEMO charges Xiaomi's 10000mAh wireless charging mobile power supply PLM11ZM. The measured charging voltage is 9.06V, current is 1.88A, and charging power is about 17.05W. It supports Xiaomi's PLM11ZM to enter a fast charging state.
Charging the Xiaomi Mobile Power Supply 3 USB-C bidirectional fast charging version PLM12ZM, the measured charging voltage is 9.06V, the current is 1.89A, and the charging power is about 17.18W. It supports the Xiaomi PLM12ZM to enter the fast charging state.
Charging the Huawei 10000mAh mobile power supply AP09Q, the measured charging voltage is 11.68V, the current is 1.31A, and the charging power is about 15.35W, supporting Huawei AP09Q to enter the fast charging state.
Charging the Zimi 20000mAh mobile power supply QB822, the measured charging voltage is 9.06V, the current is 1.85A, and the charging power is about 16.77W. It supports the Zimi QB822 to enter a fast charging state.
Charging the Zimi 20000mAh mobile power supply QB820, the measured charging voltage is 11.62V, the current is 1.53A, and the charging power is about 17.82W. It supports the Zimi QB820 to enter a fast charging state.
Charging the Samsung 10000mAh mobile power supply EB-P1100C, the measured charging voltage is 12.05V, the current is 1.2A, and the charging power is approximately 14.57W. It supports the Xiaomi PLM11ZM to enter the fast charging state.
Charging the Beisi 20000mAh mobile power supply BS-20KP203, the measured charging voltage is 12.05V, the current is 1.31A, and the charging power is about 15.87W. It supports the Beisi BS-20KP203 to enter the fast charging state.
Charging the Huamei 10000mAh mobile power supply P50C, the measured charging voltage is 9.04V, the current is 2.18A, and the charging power is approximately 19.77W, supporting the Huamei P50C to enter a fast charging state.
Through testing multiple mobile power supplies, we can also see that the CX8830 car charging DEMO supports fast charging for multiple products, including brands such as Xiaomi, Huawei, Zimi, Samsung, Beisi, Huamei, etc., with good compatibility performance.
CX8830 DEMO evaluation Board Test Summary:
The CX8830 car charging DEMO has two main characteristics: high integration and strong compatibility. From its appearance image, it can be seen that the chip only has 1 capacitor, 1 inductor, and 9 SMD resistive and capacitive components on the periphery. The PCBA design is simple, flexible, and easy to develop, accelerating product launch.
In terms of compatibility, using POWER-Z KT001 testing, it was found that the CX8830 car charging DEMO supports charging protocols such as APPLE 2.4A, USB DCP, QC2.0, QC3.0, AFC, FCP, etc; Tested to be compatible with 20 mainstream digital devices from brands such as Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, iPhone, iPad, and 8 mobile power supplies, whether it's charging phones, tablets, or mobile power supplies, it's very practical.
