CXW has launched a 33W ultra MINI gallium nitride charger based on the CX2006 controller, which can drive gallium nitride switches, reduce volume, improve power density, and allow the charger to enjoy the advantages of high frequency and high efficiency of gallium nitride.

This 33W gallium nitride charger uses INN gallium nitride switch transistor, which reduces the charger volume through the high-frequency advantage of gallium nitride. At the same time, the CX2006 controller is compatible with other brands of gallium nitride devices and can be used in chargers and switching power supplies.

The 33W gallium nitride PD fast charging model adopts the CX2006 as the primary controller, which is a peak current mode PWM controller used for flyback power converters. The CX2006 supports DCM and CCM operating modes, with a fixed frequency of 112KHz under heavy loads. The medium load is controlled by the output voltage and operates in a reduced frequency mode, reducing switch losses. It operates in a frequency hopping mode under light and no loads, further reducing switch losses to improve energy efficiency and achieving standby power consumption below 100mW, And meet the sixth level energy efficiency requirements.

CX2006 has a built-in soft start that supports frequency jitter to improve EMI performance. The built-in frequency hopping mode can improve light load efficiency and reduce standby power consumption. It supports no audio noise operation, built-in synchronous slope compensation, and a built-in leading edge blanking function. The chip supports overload protection, and cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and has power supply overvoltage protection, Undervoltage protection, and clamping functions. Built-in overheating protection, supporting rectifier short circuit protection, using a compact SOT23-6 package, suitable for chargers, power adapters, set-top box power supplies, open switch power supplies, and auxiliary power supplies.

The secondary charger adopts a multi-mode synchronous rectifier CX7538D with an internal integrated synchronous rectifier tube. It has an internal integrated 100V withstand voltage and a 10 m Ω synchronous rectifier tube, supporting CCM/QR/DCM working modes, up to 200KHz working frequency, low static current, and can improve efficiency by 2-6% compared to traditional Schottky rectification methods, supporting 3A output current.

The CX7538D supports a wide voltage output of 3.3-20V, requiring only one capacitor on the periphery, and meeting the six-level energy efficiency requirements with low static current.

33W Gallium Nitride PD Fast Charge Compatibility Test:

Fig.3

The CX2006 controller launched by CXW can directly drive gallium nitride switch tubes. By using gallium nitride switch tubes, the board end power density of the charger is increased to nearly 2W/CC. Coupled with the CX7538D synchronous rectifier, it can achieve six levels of energy efficiency and low standby power consumption requirements, meet strict energy consumption requirements, and improve the conversion efficiency of the charger.

Through compatibility testing, the 33W gallium nitride charger can enable fast charging for mainstream brand phones and charge at the highest power. The CX2006 main control chip can also be paired with other gallium nitride devices to meet different power band requirements.
