The Optical Liquid Level Sensor is a kind of sensor that uses the optical refraction principle to realize liquid level detection. Light entering the water will form refraction, which is a well-known physical phenomenon. The photoelectric liquid level sensor uses this principle to distinguish whether there is liquid and then converts it into level signal output.

There is an emitter and a receiver inside the optical liquid level sensor. In the anhydrous state, the light emitted by the emitter will refract back to the receiver after passing through the transparent lens; When there is water, the light is refracted into the liquid, so that the receiver can not receive or can only receive a small amount of light. The photoelectric liquid level sensor is generally used together with the controller to achieve the purpose of liquid level control. When the measured liquid reaches the preset position, the sensor outputs high or low level signals, and then cooperates with the controller to control the liquid level. When the liquid level drops to the bottom warning line, the sensor can send a signal to remind of water shortage or drive the water pump to add water.

The optical liquid level sensor has the advantages of simple structure, high accuracy (±1mm), no mechanical moving parts, strong corrosion resistance, low power consumption, small size, etc. Compared with the mechanical float type liquid level sensor, it has higher reliability, stability, accuracy, and longer life.

IMS provides optical liquid level sensors with different threads, sizes, and materials. They are suitable for water, oil, disinfectant, and so on.
