Nisshinbo produces NJG1186 , a front-end module (FEM) for high-precision GNSS
Nisshinbo Micro Devices Inc. will start producing the NJG1186, a front-end module (FEM) for high-precision GNSS, including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo in May.
The NJG1186 includes a pre-SAW filter and a low noise amplifier (LNA) and covers a 1.2-GHz band supporting L5/E5/B2/G3/L2C bands (1164 MHz to 1228 MHz). Please refer to Figure 1.
Figure 1. Operating Frequency
In recent years, the number of equipment that requires high-precision location information, such as automobiles, drones, and wearable devices, has been increasing. For high-precision positioning, it is necessary to have multi-band capability to receive signals of the 1.2-GHz band in addition to the conventional 1.5-GHz band.
Since GNSS is installed in a variety of equipment, it is expected to be used in a variety of environments. Therefore, there are several requirements for different environments, such as high humidity resistance for outdoor use, and space-saving for small equipment.
We will further add FEM products for high-precision GNSS to our products lineup to meet these requirements.
For reference, the NJG1186-A, an AEC-Q100 grade 2 and VDA 6.3 compliant version of this product, will be produced in August.
NJG1186 (HFFP10-JL Package)
Features
1. High Gain and Low Noise Figure (NF) in the 1.2-GHz Band
In the 1.2-GHz band (1164 MHz to 1288 MHz), a high gain of 19.5* dB and a low noise figure (NF) of 1.7* dB are achieved.
* These values include SAW filter losses.
2. Highly Airtight and Reliable Package
The use of a highly airtight package (1.57 × 1.23 × 0.47mm) with a metal lid achieves high reliability. It is suitable for automobile and outdoor applications.
3. Small and Thin Package
It is mounted in a small package of 1.57 × 1.23 × 0.47mm with a SAW filter and an LNA included. This enables reducing the mounting area.
4. High-Precision Positioning with NJG1159
Using the NJG1186 with the NJG1159, a 1.5-GHz-band FEM provides higher precision positioning by configuring a multi-GNSS circuit. Please refer to the example of the multi-GNSS application in Figure 2.
