What Are the Crimp Types of Terminals?
Today, DEKEELEC will introduce to you the specific types of crimping terminals.
1. F-shaped crimp
In the F-shaped crimping, after the cold stamping connection, the terminal insulation crimping area is not allowed to puncture the wire core. This type of crimping is widely used, and the sheath inner terminal is used in the domestic vehicle wiring harness Some of them use this type of crimping, such as in-car wiring harnesses produced by Guangzhou Toyota and FAW.
2. WRAP crimp
After the terminal is cold-stamped, it is not allowed to puncture the insulation layer of the wire. After crimping, the two outer sides of the insulation crimping area must be in a pair of parallel planes. This type of crimping is used in China Junjie's instrument panel wiring harness. The inner terminal of the sheath connected to the instrument display and combination switch is used, and the small terminals in the docking sheath of the engine wiring harness of Great Wall Genie, Haval M1, Dazzling, and BYD F3, F3DM hybrid power and ECU also use this crimping type.
3. O-shaped crimp
After the cold stamping connection, the terminal insulation crimping area is not allowed to puncture the wire insulation layer. After crimping, the terminal sealing port in the insulation crimping area is in contact or separated. This type of crimping is used in Zhonghua Junjie instrument panel wiring harnesses. The terminal block that is docked with the ECM is used.
4. Overlap crimp
After a cold stamping connection, it is not allowed to puncture the insulation layer of the wire in the insulation crimping area of the terminal. This type of crimping is used on the terminals in the sheaths that are connected to the gas generator and the hour needle spring in the airbag harnesses of domestic cars such as China Zunchi, Junjie, and Changan Yuexiang.
5. L-shaped crimp
This crimping method is used in the crimping of flag terminals and is usually rarely used. This crimping type is used in the terminal block connected to the handbrake switch in the China Junjie console wiring harness
6. Non-standard special tail crimp
Usually with a secondary tail self-locking sheath, the equipped terminal must be subjected to special crimping treatment at the terminal tail during application. Commonly used are high tail and wide tail crimping, that is, the crimp height or width of the insulation crimping area. The self-locking requirement must be met within a numerical range, otherwise, the secondary self-locking at the tail may fail, resulting in lower quality and increased hidden dangers. The tail crimp shape of the terminal is determined by the sheath itself. Generally, there are the following three types of crimping for non-standard special tail crimping.
7. European and American style high tail crimp
This crimp type must be used when the terminal and the sheath are properly assembled and the direction of the terminal core and the crimp closure at the insulation is on the same side of the sheath. The advantage of this crimp type is the stability of the terminal in the sheath Good, there will be no phenomenon of retreat and rotation. The disadvantage is that the contact surface between the terminal and the wire in the insulation crimping area is small, and the wire fixing performance in the insulation crimping area is not good. This type of crimping is applied to the terminals in the butt sheath of the Zhonghua Junjie instrument wiring harness and engine compartment wiring harness, as well as the terminals in the butt sheath of anti-theft devices, electric rearview mirror switches, seat belt switches, license plate lights, and rear combination lights.
8. Asian high-tail crimp
When the terminal and the sheath are assembled correctly, and the direction of the crimping closure at the terminal core and the insulation is on both sides of the sheath, this type of crimping is preferred, because this type of crimping can better ensures the maximum contact area between the terminal and the wire. The disadvantage is that when the matching accuracy of the terminal. This crimping type is used in the terminal in the sheath of the Zhonghua Junjie instrument wiring harness that is connected with the wiper, washing, and horn switches; Great Wall's dazzling left front door wiring harness is connected with the glass lifter switch. The terminal in the sheath, and the Great Wall Elf This crimp type is also used for the terminals in the housing that mates the cabin wiring harness to the dashboard wiring harness and to the backplane wiring harness.
9. Wide tail crimp
This crimping method is suitable for terminals with a size of 6. 3 and above, and is rarely used. It can sometimes be used in the sheath of some power plug-ins. This crimping type is used in the power socket of the Great Wall Wizard's cabin wiring harness and the central power distribution box. The terminals inside the jacket and the relay terminals in the No. 2 distribution box in the cabin wiring harness are used.
