Thermal Grizzly Product Update: AM5 High-Performance Heatspreader with New Nickel Plating
The team at thermal grizzly is constantly working to live up to the slogan "High Performance Cooling Solutions." This includes not only the continuous design and testing of new products but also reviewing existing products for compatibility with new processors and performing ongoing quality control checks. In collaboration with one of our industry partners, we have focused specifically on the nickel plating process.
Here, we extensively tested various processes and coating thicknesses and made some interesting observations. By adjusting the nickel plating process for the AM5 High Performance Heatspreaders, we were able to optimize the nickel layer, significantly reducing its thermal resistance. In practice, this means temperatures can be lowered by up to 5 degrees Celsius compared to our previous coating!
The downside of the new process is its appearance, which now looks a bit duller, and milling marks are more noticeable. Since we always prioritize function over aesthetics, we decided to opt for slightly less appealing looks in exchange for better performance. If you have any questions, our customer service team is here to help.
