Polyphase controller ——IS6201A

IS6201A Is a dual-loop digital multi-phase step-down controller, specially designed specifically for CPU voltage regulation, to fully comply with the AMD SVI2 specification.


IS6201A Using Innovision Semiconductor's patented turbine constant conduction time (TCOTTM) Control algorithms to achieve a lightning-like fast transient response. It also includes proprietary efficiency shaping techniques that achieve superior efficiency across the load range. The dynamic phase control function can increase / decrease the phase according to the load current. IS6201A Can be configured for 1 phase or 2 phase PS1 operation, automatic or command for active diode simulation.

 

IS6201A Both compatible with IIC and PMBusTM, AMD SVI2 Digital communication protocol. IIC, as the main control, defines the various functions and configuration of the chip; users can pass the PMBusTM, AMD SVI2 Communication to set the output voltage of the chip, read the output voltage of the chip and other functions.

 

IS6201A Provide OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP and CAT _ FLT fault protection, which can be used with DCR current detection, precision current detection resistor and long work micro intelligent power level. IS6201A Also includes a number of multiphase voltage regulator (VR) design simplified and differentiated features, such as register diagnostics. 1.IS6201A With long industrial micro and large current intelligent power level (SPS) IS6806A / IS6809A, it can easily realize the stable power supply of large current above 320A on servers, desktop motherboard and other platforms.

IS6806A / IS6809A is an integrated intelligent power level with built-in internal power MOSFET and gate driver. It adopts 5 mm x 6 mm QFN package and has 70A high current capacity. IS6806A / IS6809A optimizes the dead time and reduces internal integration of the gate driver and the parasitic inductance, resulting in high efficiency, excellent thermal performance, and high power density. IS6806A / IS6809A can receive the three-state pulse width modulation (PWM) signal of the multiphase controller, support fault alarm functions, such as HS FET overcurrent, overheating and HS MOSFET short circuit fault, and support accurate current sampling and sampling temperature functions, to realize the detection of inductive current and report the junction temperature. The difference is that IS6806A current signal adopts voltage type feedback, and IS6809A current signal adopts current type feedback. Similarly, both are suitable for demanding performance and stable server and desktop solutions. Take IS6806A as an example, the schematic diagram with IS6201A is shown below:

2.IS6201A with long industrial micro and large current intelligent power level (SPS) IS6811A, can be adapted to the application of the notebook, 8 the same step work can provide up to 200A power supply current.


IS6811A Power level chip with integrated drive and power MOS tube, 3mm 5 mm QFN package, and achieve continuous output current of 30A in the 4.5V-24V wide input voltage range. IS6811A It also has current monitoring and temperature monitoring functions, which can work efficiently in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 2 MHz due to optimization of dead zone time and reduction of parasitic inductance. Compared with friends, Figure 13 left is the switching frequency of 1 MHz, and Figure 13 right is the switching frequency at 2 MHz, and its peak efficiency and heavy load efficiency are higher than that of friends. As can be seen from Figure 14, the IS6811A device can withstand the current 4 times higher than the maximum working current, twice that of the competing products, while the maximum current of the competing products is 80A, and the maximum current of our device reaches 160A. Also, IS6811A is great for laptop applications that focus on efficiency and small size.
