Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has begun sales of the LK25XB60 low VF bridge diodes for power supplies in air conditioners and other home electronics white goods. There is growing demand for low VF bridge diodes in the air conditioning market, which continues to move towards lower power consumption, as well as expectations of improvement of lightning surge resistance. In response to these market needs, we have achieved 10kV high lightning surge resistance with this new product.


Going forward, Shindengen plans to further expand its new product lineup in order to respond to the diverse range of needs aimed at increasing power supply efficiency and contribute to greater reduction of power consumption in air conditioners and other home electronics white goods.


Overview

As the number of air conditioners in operation around the world continues to grow, there is an increasing demand for lower power consumption in order to reduce the environmental burden of air conditioners. This has resulted in an increase in demand for low VF bridge diodes for use as input rectifiers in air conditioner power supplies.


However, while there is growing demand in the air conditioning market for low VF characteristics in bridge diodes and higher lightning surge resistance, improving the lightning surge resistance of low VF bridge diodes was a difficult issue to overcome.


This new product uses a new structure for the diode chips, which made it possible to achieve both low VF and high lightning surge resistance in order to satisfy market needs. We achieved 10kV lightning surge resistance, a 67% improvement over equivalent competitor products.
The new product uses a new 5S GEN2 structure in the same external package as the 5S, which has been used in numerous applications in the market and has earned a reputation for high quality, to improve package and lead terminal heat dissipation.


The product's repetitive peak reverse voltage VRRM is 600V, the average forward current IF(AV) is 25A, and the forward voltage VF is 0.95V (maximum).
