Shindengen Launched a Control IC for Quasi Resonant Power Supplies which Can Reduce Standby Power by 38%
Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has launched the MS1007SH, a control IC for quasi resonant power supplies, equipped with a standby power reduction function.
This product can greatly reduce standby power via burst mode and can also improve efficiency under light loads via a bottom skip function.
This contributes to the energy saving measures in demand for household white good power supplies and industrial equipment power supplies.
This IC can also make high efficiency power supply design safer and easier through a variety of high value-added functions and thorough protection functions. Sales of this product are expected to begin in December 2021.
Overview
There has been a focus on reducing energy consumption in refrigerators, washing machines, and other white goods as well as in industrial equipment as a means of preventing global warming, and there is also demand for high efficiency in the flyback circuits used as control power supplies for many of these devices.
There is a great deal of interest in reduction of device standby power consumption and improvement of power supply efficiency under light loads in particular.
In order to respond to these market needs, Shindengen has launched the MS1007SH, a control IC for quasi resonant power supplies, equipped with a standby power reduction function.
This product features an auto burst function which automatically shifts to burst mode during standby to reduce standby power, and a bottom skip function which lowers the oscillation frequency under light loads to improve efficiency, which combine to realize a 38% reduction in standby power and a 24% improvement in efficiency under light loads.
The product also reduces the number of components by integrating a burst mode circuit and IC peripheral circuits, and incorporates thorough protection functions in order to simplify power supply design.
