Duvonn and Longsys Jointly Develop a Vehicle Data Black Box
With the continuous development in automobile intelligence, various new technologies have been gradually applied to smart vehicles, such as autonomous driving systems and face recognition technology. However, this has made the determination of liability for traffic accidents more complicated. With the increasing difficulty of determining accident liability, the call for equipping vehicles with "black boxes" has become louder.
Last year, a regulation was added to Amendment No. 2 of China's national mandatory standard GB7258-2017 - Technical Specifications for Safety of Power-driven Vehicles Operating on Roads. This regulation, which took effect on January 1, 2022, requires that newly manufactured passenger vehicles be equipped with a compliant vehicle event data recorder (EDR) or onboard driving video recorder (DVR).
This year, the standard GB/T 19056-2021 - Vehicle Traveling Data Recorder (revised edition) that supports the Technical Specifications for Safety of Power-driven Vehicles Operating on Roads (GB7258-2017) was officially released. This new standard uniformly defines the appearance, size, signal interface, and shape of the vehicle data recorder. It also stipulates that the recorder must have at least two driving video recording devices. In addition, the new standard requires enhanced data storage security. The vehicle data recorder should be equipped with a fireproof, waterproof, and crush-resistant data storage device to become a vehicle black box. The new standard will be enforced from July 1, 2022, and a vehicle data black box will soon become mandatory for commercial vehicles.
MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS
(Duvonn's vehicle data black box)
Long-haul passenger vehicles
New energy vehicles
Rail transport
Dangerous goods transport vehicles
Cargo vehicles
School bus data storage
Security data storage for high-risk operation sites/data centers
To support this new standard, Duvonn Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Duvonn") has been working with Longsys since 2020 on vehicle data storage security. Both parties have achieved excellent progress.
Duvonn has developed and manufactured several data protection products independently, such as an onboard EDR with a built-in core protection unit. A large number of automotive Longsys eMMCs are used as secure memory chips for these products. In terms of data security, Duvonn has implemented the advanced encryption standard (AES) through customized services. This enables the vehicle data black box and recording collection terminal to protect the data from falsification, tampering, and deletion. The product is now widely used in onboard electronic recording equipment.
multiple applications
(This vehicle data black box is widely used in recording devices on commercial vehicles)
Superior security performance
Overall protection of stored data
As an effective enhancement to vehicle data storage security, Duvonn's vehicle data black box can seamlessly connect with vehicle video surveillance equipment or vehicle data recorders. The external materials used in this device comply with the EU standard EUROCAE ED-155:2009 for lightweight flight recording systems. It has eight protection features: fire resistance, water resistance, shock resistance, crush resistance, puncture resistance, explosion resistance, electromagnetic interference resistance, and rapid cooling resistance.
The FORESEE automotive eMMC memory chip (Grade 3) used in the black box passed the AEC-Q100 reliability test standard in 2020. It has a mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 20 million hours. It can also operate stably at temperatures between -40℃ and 85℃. Multiple lines of defense have been built for data storage.
The vehicle data black box has first-rate materials selection criteria for both its external and internal components to ensure that the integrity of critical data, such as vehicle video, is maintained even in extremely harsh environments.

Duvonn's experience with FORESEE's automotive eMMCs
Duvonn's head stated that the company had assessed FORESEE's automotive eMMC products in multiple aspects, including their long-term test performance, end-user performance, and after-sales service statistics. Duvonn believes that Longsys's product quality, technical strength, compliance management, after-sales service, supply capability, and delivery capability can all meet its high requirements. In addition, Longsys has provided active collaboration in customization services. Longsys is expanding the scope of eMMC applications while strengthening its intellectual property protection, guaranteeing the joint development of data storage products.
Focusing on both hardware and software
Guaranteeing product quality and reliability
The long-term cooperation between Duvonn and Longsys is rooted in their strong R&D capabilities and their shared philosophy on data security protection. While cooperating with each other, the two companies have solved problems relating to the security, stability, and reliability of the vehicle data black box through software and hardware testing and joint innovation experiments to strictly control the product quality.
Outlook
The Government has mandated that data black boxes must be fitted to automobiles, demonstrating the development and advancement of automotive technology in China. The black box also provides data protection for automotive consumers, commercial vehicles, and rail transportation. Today, autonomous driving continues to rise in popularity, making the vehicle data black box all the more indispensable.
At present, both parties are testing and evaluating the more highly specified automotive FORESEE eMMC memory chip (Grade 2). This memory chip will be able to operate at temperatures between -40℃ and 105℃ in the vehicle data black box.
Duvonn and Longsys will continue to enhance cooperation and broaden the scope of industrial applications to jointly secure data storage.
