Ultra-Precise Positioning and Measurement with UWB650: Power and Accuracy for Diverse Wireless Applications
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) positioning technology, also known as ultra-wideband technology, is an innovative communication technology. Unlike traditional communication systems, UWB does not use a carrier wave but instead achieves wireless transmission through the sending and receiving of extremely narrow pulses.
UWB offers several advantages, including high data rates, low latency, strong penetration capabilities, and resistance to multipath interference. UWB technology utilizes pulse repetition frequency (PRS) and pulse interval timing (PLD) to achieve high-speed data transmission.
One characteristic of UWB technology is the multipath effect, where multiple signals are transmitted simultaneously within a single emitted signal. This is also why the technology is sometimes referred to as "narrowband positioning.
When the energy along a certain path is depleted, multipath effects occur, where each signal is exhausted. Therefore, when receiving the transmitted signal from the positioning target, it is crucial to select the shortest path for signal reception.
The UWB650 module is a wireless communication module launched by NiceRF, based on Ultra-Wide band (UWB) technology and compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4-2020 Standard. The UWB650 module is developed on the foundation of the UWB3000F27, enhancing the module with a 0.5W high-power amplifier chip.
Integrated High-Power Amplifier Chip: The module is equipped with a built-in 0.5W high-power amplifier chip, which enhances signal strength and coverage range.
Simplified Design: The module includes a complete wireless communication circuit, eliminating the need for users to design related circuitry. Additionally, it integrates ESD protection devices, providing effective electrostatic protection.
Multifunctional Integration
The UWB650 module integrates data communication, two-way ranging (DS-TWR), and Three-point plane positioning function, allowing users to easily utilize these features through the UART interface without the need for additional design and development.
High-Precision Ranging Function: The module automatically responds to ranging signals without requiring extra operation or setup. As the initiating end, the module can poll up to 5 responding ends for ranging, ensuring accurate distance measurements.
Two-Way Ranging (DS-TWR): DS-TWR achieves high-precision centimeter-level distance measurement by measuring the round-trip time difference of signals between two devices, making it suitable for precise ranging scenarios. This bidirectional measurement method effectively offsets time synchronization errors, enhancing the accuracy of distance measurement. Additionally, DS-TWR offers robust anti-interference capabilities, maintaining stable ranging performance even in complex wireless environments.
Three-point plane positioning function The three-point planar positioning function determines the 2D coordinates of the target device by deploying three known base stations on the same plane, utilizing TOA (Time of Arrival) or DS-TWR technology. This approach provides centimeter-level high-precision positioning without the need for complex 3D algorithms. Moreover, this method is less sensitive to environmental interference, ensuring stable positioning performance even in challenging wireless environments.
High Data Rate Support: The module supports air data rates of 8Mbps and 850Kbps, allowing users to select the appropriate data transmission speed based on specific application requirements.
Preamble Code Configuration: The module supports multiple preamble codes (3/4/9/10/11/12), each tailored for different communication environments and needs. It's important to note that modules with different preamble code configurations cannot communicate with each other, so consistency in preamble code settings is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the system.
Adjustable Transmit Power Levels: The UWB650 module features adjustable transmit power levels, with a maximum transmit power of up to 5W and a communication range of up to 1 kilometer. This flexibility allows it to meet data transmission needs ranging from short distances to ultra-long distances.
UWB Wireless to TTL Conversion: The UWB wireless to TTL module converts UWB wireless signals into TTL signals, simplifying the interface with digital circuits and micro-controllers. With no need for complex setup or programming, users can quickly get started with data transmission.
