The wireless remote gas meter reading system includes the base part of the meter, microcontroller system, pulse collection system, rf modules.
Below is the introduction to how it works with RF module RF4463Pro.
Usually, the gas meter reading system has working mode and sleeping mode. Most of the time the gas meter is sleeping to save battery life. When user is using the gas, it will trigger the pulse output. The input pulse will wake up the microcontroller, then the microcontroller will count the pulse and calculate the gas used. It will sleep after that. Besides the input pulse will wake up the microcontroller, the time will wake up the system. Usually the gas meter can be set to wake up at some time interval, for example, 12 hours or 24 hours. This wake-up time can be done by rf module RF4463Pro, it has built in 32768 oscillator. This will reduce the resources of the microcontroller, no need to find a MCU with 32768 oscillator. When wake up at setting time, gas meters will upload the value of gas meter via rf module RF4463Pro. The receiver will identify the value and address of the gas meter, and then send to the server. Usually, the gas meter will also upload the battery level, temperature, and others to the receiver and then to the server. Then server will know how is the value of gas and working condition remotely.
This method saves much person resources, and almost all the jobs can be done on the server. And the accuracy can be better than in person.
