Wireless Module: Factors Affecting Transmission Distance
The communication distance of the Wireless Module is one of the most important parameter indicators, so we will pay special attention to this indicator when we choose the module. Some customers have also asked G-NiceRF, what is the communication distance of our module, and what factors will affect it?
The communication distance of the wireless module is mainly divided into two parts, the first is the internal parameters and accessories of the module, and the second is the external factor.
Wireless module internal parameters and accessories
1. Power
Power is one of the important parameters of the module. The greater the power, the longer the transmission distance. Theoretically, the power can be increased indefinitely, but due to cost or technical limitations, the power of any module is limited.
2. Sensitivity
The higher the receiving sensitivity (the higher the negative value), the longer the communication distance. If you require the module to communicate with a longer distance, you can choose a module with higher sensitivity.
3. Anti-interference ability
In the actual communication environment of the module, there are various invisible interference sources, such as electromagnetic and electric waves, so under the same transmission power and sensitivity, the transmission distance of the wireless module with strong anti-interference ability will definitely be longer.
4. Antenna
The antenna is one of the most important accessories of the module, it can bring the gain effect to the module; the higher the gain, the longer the communication distance. Under the premise of the same conditions of the antenna, the higher the antenna height from the ground plane, the longer the communication distance. Especially in a complex environment, increasing the height of the antenna has a greater impact on the communication distance than increasing the transmission power. The placement of the antenna is also particular, try not to be close to the ground, and as far as possible away from interference sources, these factors will affect the antenna's gain effect on the module.
External factor
1. Working environment
The environment has a great influence on the communication distance of the module, especially in the high-rise city and metal environment, it is a great obstacle to the communication distance of the module, especially the metal has the greatest influence on the communication distance of the module. When installing the module, try to keep it away from places with lots of metal.
2. Climatic conditions
In severe weather conditions such as thunderstorms and storms, the communication distance of the module will be shortened. In places where the temperature is too high or too low (beyond the working temperature range of the module), it may also cause the communication distance of the wireless module to be shortened, or even burn out.
3. Air humidity
The module transmits signals in the air, so the humidity of the air has an absolute influence on the communication distance of the module. The higher the air humidity, the shorter the transmission distance, and vice versa, the longer the transmission distance.
