Hosiden Developed In-vehicle Co-axial + 2-pin Connectors Supporting High-speed Signal Transmission of 6Gbps
Overview and Design Intentions of In-vehicle Co-axial + 2-pin Connectors
HOSIDEN has developed a combined connector integrating a high-speed signal transmission connector (coaxial) and twin power line connector (2-pin), for in-vehicle applications. These connectors are expected to find application in near-infrared cameras to be used in Driver Monitoring Systems, in which in-vehicle cameras are used to monitor the driver’s condition.
A camera unit integrating an infrared LED and a camera requires a power line for the LED and a signal transmission line for the camera images. Integrating these two systems into a single connector enables a reduction in the area occupied by the connectors on circuit boards and a simplified connector scheme. For transmission of camera image signals, a coaxial connector, now commonplace in monitoring cameras is used.
The use of metal housing as a Receptacle on the board-side has assured the durability required for in-vehicle products while maintaining a compact size. Further, the connector enables excellent transmission performance, supporting the next generation technology of SER/DES (SERializer/DESerializers) allowing high-speed signal transmission as well as the required EMC performance. There are samples available of a board-side vertical receptacle, and an L-shaped Plug-side connector. Right-angle receptacles and straight-type plugs are also included in the product lineup.
