KYOCERA Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto, hereinafter "Kyocera") today announced that it has been recognized as a Top 100 Global Innovators™ 2024 by Clarivate™, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence. This year's list brings Kyocera's eighth appearance, with 2024 marking the third consecutive year.

The Top 100 Global Innovators comprise organizations that demonstrate consistent, above-the-bar innovation excellence at the very top of the global innovation ecosystem. The Top 100 program uses informatic techniques targeting innovation excellence to compare tens of millions of ideas, across thousands of baselines, through billions of calculations, to identify the 100 innovators at the pinnacle. Honorees have been announced annually since 2012.

In 2024, a total of 38 Japanese companies were selected as part of the top 100 based on the number of patents.

Kyocera's fundamental policy is to safeguard the outcomes of research and development through intellectual property (IP) protection; utilize IP to foster business growth; and esteem the IP rights of others.

Kyocera's intellectual property division collaborates with its business units to strategically leverage intellectual property from the start of a new business. The company plans and promotes IP strategies that adapt to evolving market and technology trends. As customer demands shift from products to solutions and experiences, Kyocera is broadening the scope of its applications to encompass software and services, in addition to hardware.

Kyocera actively showcases proprietary technologies on its intellectual property website to create business opportunities with customers interested in its IP activities.

Methodology

The Top 100 Global Innovators uses a complete comparative analysis of global invention data to assess the strength of every patented idea, using measures tied directly to their innovative power. To move from the strength of individual ideas and identify the organizations that create them more consistently and frequently, Clarivate sets two-threshold criteria that potential candidates must meet, and then adds a measure of their patented innovation output over the past five years.
