The solar branch booms especially in the summer months. That is why FTG (Sub-brand of Amphenol-GIS) is adding the distribution block PDB Solar to their product range. It serves as a transfer point between solar panels and switches in solar applications. The distribution block is manufactured in the Black Forrest plant in Triberg and is UL-approved and compatible with aluminium and copper conductors. That way it provides optimal handling.

The worldwide photo-voltaic market has already grown again since 2018. The number of installed plants increased, despite the economical drop in China. The growth in the EU market is explainable through the elimination of solar customs and the newly made frame conditions.

FTG delivers single pole busbars for fast and space-saving installations of solar panels. Additionally, the distribution of DC switches and a PDB Solar (#38690) for concentrating the minus or plus pole is possible. Here the PDB serves as a transfer point of the solar panels for safety.

The tin-plated aluminium body can collect up to 24 solar panels. Those can be connected to the fuse protection as big cross sections via two headless setscrews M10. The terminal is approved by UL and IEC and accomplishes the connection of aluminium and copper conductors of 2,5 to 16 mm². The maximum operating current is 800 A for copper and 600 A for aluminium conductors.

The PDB Solar offers the electrician a space-saving and simple mounting in distributors of solar plants. The complete portfolio of the manufacturer, which covers connection terminals and many other products like 1- to 4-pole busbars and power distribution blocks, aims for a low-cost and space-saving mounting in many distributors and is always ready-to-use.
