ComNav technology‘s latest GNSS technology : Dual-engine RTK Technology, Realizing the Simultaneous RTK Positioning on Single-board for the Master Station and the Slave Station
Dual engine RTK, just as the name implies, refers to two RTK calculation engines built on single board. From perspective of working mode, the master station and the slave station can calculate RTK result for positioning at the same time. Generally for single GNSS board with dual antennas, only the master station is equipped with an RTK engine while the slave station is to obtain high-precision heading results through real-time communication with the master station.
Realization of Dual-engine RTK positioning
Dual-Engine positioning technology realizes the simultaneous RTK positioning on single-board for the master station and the slave station, and outputs two RTK high-precision positioning results at the same time.
This technology is realized by integrating two Quantum III SoC baseband and two high-precision chips in the single module. Each chip has built-in baseband, PVT and RTK algorithm engines. Thus, the processing, positioning and calculation of the master and slave signals are independently without interfering with each other, which ensures the final result more available.
The advantage of Dual-Engine RTK technology
This technology will definitely enhance the reliability and improve the availability of GNSS receiver. In complex environments where main antenna is blocked and cannot yield high-precision RTK positioning result, the slave antenna can perform high-precision RTK positioning normally, which can provides higher data quality for real-time positioning application.
This technology can be well applied in the fields of drones, intelligent driving, etc.. With dual backup and multiple redundancy of positioning results, the carrier can continuously obtain high-precision real-time positioning data to achieve continuous navigation. As a result, the reliability and availability for flight control and navigation system is improved in a large extent.
Dual-engine RTK performance on K827 GNSS module
The GNSS antenna was connected to antenna power divider, and then connect separately to the K827 module master and slave connector.
From the following positioning data, it can be found that K827 module provides similar positioning result for both master and slave antenna in high precision performance.
