Ferric Chloride full strength 45 Baume solution is a powerful etching solution used for copper printed circuit boards and other metals. It is to be used with caution, as it requires protective clothing and adherence to health and safety guidelines. The solution is suitable for stainless steel, nickel, and high nickel alloys when used as supplied. For copper, brass, and bronze, it should be diluted with 30% added water. The optimal usage temperature is between 35°C and 55°C, with 45°C being the recommended temperature for a temperature-controlled etching tank. Safety equipment such as protective clothing, goggles, and gloves are mandatory.
