VPIcomponentMaker™Fiber Optics is a research tool for modeling, optimizing, and designing single-mode and multimode fiber optic devices such as doped fibers, Raman and parametric amplifiers, continuous-wave and pulsed fiber lasers, multimode amplifiers for SDM, optical signal processing in telecommunications, and high-power and ultrafast applications. The tool is based on single-mode and multimode, full-wave and parameterized representation signal and noise models and is well-suited for efficient analysis. It provides simple and complex amplifier and laser topology structures based on element building blocks, including active and passive components, signal monitors, control elements, and feedback loops. Virtual instruments provide various means to characterize the effects of the design.
