The VPIcomponentMaker™ Photonic Circuits provides a specialized environment for designing photonic integrated circuits (PICs). It includes advanced libraries for modeling various photonic, optoelectronic, and electrical elements. The software supports circuit-level abstracted models for rapid prototyping of complex large-scale PICs. It handles multisection semiconductor devices with bulk or MQW active mediums, including buried-heterostructures. The TLLM model accounts for Kerr and two-photon absorption effects, DFB and DBR gratings, and carrier dynamics. The S-matrix approach is used for modeling passive photonic and linear electrical elements. The suite also includes VPItransmissionMaker™ Optical Systems, VPIcomponentMaker™ Fiber Optics, and VPIlabExpert™ for comprehensive design, analysis, and optimization of PICs.
