Long-lasting Floor Protection with Devcon® Ultra Quartz™ Coating Case Study
■An aluminum components & laminates plant was installing new commercial flooring and had concerns with the longevity and durability of the floor coating. The previous floors were significantly worn down due to the highly corrosive process of anodizing aluminum, which led to concerns surrounding the safety and integrity of the facility.
■Aluminum parts were submerged in large chemical tanks to create the finish required. The acid and alkali spills from these chemical baths at elevated temperatures reached the floors and often could not be washed immediately, resulting in significant damage to the concrete floors. In addition, heavy duty traffic (forklifts) caused the previous coatings to peel and scratch off.
■The plant was also expanding their production capacity. A key requirement was to protect the new concrete floors with a durable coating that would withstand the high acidity and operating temperatures and provide a safe, long-lasting durable coating.
●Solution:
■Devcon Ultra Quartz was chosen for this application because it can withstand severe chemical attack and provide the required durable finish. In addition, it is easy to apply.
