LOW PRESSURE HOSE CLAMPS ON SCBA UNITS Technical Bulletin

2022-06-15
●This bulletin is being printed as a supplement to Technical Bulletin #58.
●Survivair Technical Bulletin #58 requires that all low pressure SCBA hose assemblies shall be secured with metal Tinnerman clamps, P/N 941732. In order to eliminate any possible use of plastic wraps or clamps on SCBA units, Survivair has withdrawn NIOSH approval for all low pressure hose assemblies with plastic cable ties or plastic clamps.
●Low pressure hose assemblies secured with plastic cable ties or clamps may still be in service. Therefore, Survivair strongly recommends that you check all SCBA units and all spare parts for low pressure hose assemblies with plastic cable ties or clamps. Replace all plastic clamps with metal clamps, P/N 941732, to maintain NIOSH approval for the SCBA. There is a possibility that some older units may also use a plastic clamp to secure the nozzle to the facepiece. These clamps should also be replaced with metal clamp, P/N 941318.
●When reinstalling the proper Tinnerman clamp follow the directions in Technical Bulletin #58. When checking clamp for security ensure a pull test is used in addition to the “count the tooth” method. Be careful that the tool used to tighten the clamp does not bend it or break off any teeth. If you have any doubts about the clamp security replace it with a new one.
