LOW PRESSURE HOSE CLAMPS ON SCBA UNITS (THIS BULLETIN REPLACES TB #51) Technical Bulletin
■Insure that all SCBA low pressure hoses are secured with the metal Tinnerman clamp, P/N 941732, at each end. If a unit is equipped with any other clamp, replace it with a P/N 941732 clamp.
■Inspect hose before and after installation for cuts, gouges, or other damage. When the hose is disconnected insert your finger inside the hose and stretch slightly to detect any hidden cuts. After installation look closely at the area around the clamp to insure that the hose was not cut during installation.
■Tighten the clamps on all units firmly. In addition, on all NFPA units, insure that the upper hose clamp is tightened to at least tooth #7. See Figure 1. Tug firmly on the hose to test the security of attachment. Tighten the clamp if any slippage occurs.
●NOTE
■The best tool for this operation is a pair of pliers such as Sears 9HT52136. File pliers to a rounded tip which will easily fit into the clamp notches. See Figure 2.
■Continue with the inspection of the hose connections as specified in the appropriate manual.
