MPC-203 High Speed Multifunction Polarization Control System User Guide

The MPC-203 is a version of General Photonics’ Multifunction Polarization Controller specifically designed for system testing that requires fast polarization change rates. It combines a high speed version of General Photonics’ PolaRite™ III polarization controller with proprietary control algorithms to achieve a wide range of polarization control functionalities: manual polarization control, polarization function generation/modulation, and polarization scrambling, with maximum SOP variation rates in tornado scrambling mode of up to 11 Mrad/s. The instrument contains a microprocessor based control circuit packaged in a 2U-height, ¾ -rack size package, as shown in Figure 1. The all-fiber construction polarization controller provides very wide operation bandwidth with low insertion loss, polarization dependent loss, and activation loss.
