●Introduction:
The NXP PMIC solution for R-Car V3M processor includes power-up sequence, power-down sequence, and safety mechanisms. They enable the system to satisfy automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) B. The application note also includes schematic diagrams and the BOM, which makes the completion of power system design easy.
●Description:
■R-Car V3M is a system-on-chip (SoC) that is primarily for front camera applications and surround view applications. It is compliant with the ISO 26262 (ASIL B) functional safety standard.
■NXP multi-PMIC power solution for R-Car V3M includes two PMICs. PF5020 and PF5024 are developed in compliance with ISO 26262 process. They highly integrate multiple regulators so that the power solution is well-suited to supply high performance SoC like R-Car V3M. PF5020 and PF5024 PMICs supports system application safety requirements up to ASIL B safety level. There are also quality management (QM) versions of PF5020 and PF5024 for low-cost design.
■PF5020 and PF5024 PMICs built-in one time programmable (OTP) memory stores key startup configurations. PF5020 and PF5024 feature dedicated functional block for synchronizing of multiple PMIC operations, so NXP multi-PMIC can work like one chipset in the system. To save design effort and reduce the system complexity, no external controller is needed for system default configuration and power-up synchronization.
