SMAC NEWSLETTER Vol.134 LBL25 STACK with CBC controllers
Packaging Show was held in Chicago Oct 14 -18. SMAC is becoming much more systematic in its approach to shows.We had specific simple themes. For this show:
We tried out a new stand promo method. This is a 6K lumen projector that shows a video power point on the rear wall. 4 meter wide, with videos of actuators, stacks, etc. Much easier to see as people walk by and we can change the Presentation for different shows, languages too.
●Each SMAC salesman had targets with goal of getting a meeting at the target company. IE achieve step 1 and move to step 2. Got 50+ meetings set.
●We held “formal” presentations at the booth that highlight our themes.Salesmen “recruited” attendees. Got 5 new OEM projects out of these.
●We will track the targets -via steps -in order to get a real $$ value for the show.
Show started out with set up on Oct 12. We were right across from Festo, and their crates were dropped off at our booth by mistake. Although the temptation was there to put on labels that would have directed their equipment to another, far away, location we didn’t do that.
Highlights:
●8OEM applications for eject/divert -using stacks and LBL25.
●Leak test stacks -OEM CT 16.
●CTL50 -2x OEM to replace air cylinders.
●3x OEM for Capping.
Lots of user apps -getting deep into famous beans maker, pretty professional group, not bush league. They say will push us into large OEM.
So, all in all a good show. We are on say -15 machines. Next year maybe 40. Step by step getting a position in this industry.Keys are:
1.Our tech -speed / cycle life / stack/Soft-Land/Force control
2.Price is lower.
3.Ability to feed back information.
Finally, we are drawing interest from all sorts of players. IMI/Bimba, Rockwell /AB, Mitsubishi Electric. And picking up what competitors are doing, or what they are not doing really. Nothing new from Festo or SMC. Lots of distributor and customer feedback on Linmot -not so positive for them.
