What is Armored Fiber Optic Patch Cord and What Are the Characteristics?
Ⅰ. What is an armored fiber optic cable patch cord?
Armored
patch cord is a special kind of fiber optic patch cord, specially
designed with a layer of stainless steel casing to protect the optical
fiber. It has the advantages and functions of a standard fiber optic
patch cord but also has armored durability.
Ⅱ. The structure of the armored fiber optic cable patch cord
Armored fiber optic patch cord means that a layer of micro-diameter stainless steel sleeve is added to the optical fiber, and then a layer of arylon yarn and spiral stainless steel armor wrapped naked optical fiber.
Ordinary cable VS Armored cable:
A layer of micro-diameter spiral stainless steel sleeve is mainly added outside the optical fiber to enhance the stress resistance, and ensure the same flexibility as the standard fiber optic cable patch cord and a variety of superior optical properties of the optical fiber. The micro-diameter stainless steel hose acts as a protective layer closest to the optical fiber to prevent damage caused by mechanical forces.
High strength aramid fiber reinforced parts ensure that the fiber has no tensile strain, and external warp is the standard cable external warp, which is suitable for all kinds of connectors of the application. Using optical cable cladding material with flame retardant, environmental protection or high temperature resistant. It is of small external warp, light weight, good bending performance with good flexibility.
Some armored fiber optic patch cord will also use high strength PVC as the surface material, whichcan be flame retardant, chemical corrosion resistance, tear resistance and also increase the flexibility and elasticity of armored fiber optic patch cord.
Ⅲ. The characteristics of armored fiber optic cable patch cord
Armored fiber optic cable patch cord has the characteristics of high tensile strength, stress resistance, rat bite resistance, and is not easy to be crushed and damaged. Armored fiber optic patch cord can be directly laid outdoors and in various harsh environments without the use of protective bushing. The bending and diameter of optical cable are not greatly restricted, which greatly saves space, increases the simplicity of construction layout and reduces the construction cost. Although armoured cable is strong, it is actually as soft as standard fiber optic patch cord and can bend without breaking.
Armored fiber optic patch cord can be equipped with SC, ST, FC, LC, MU and other terminal interface types. It can be used in complex environments such as building wiring, optical connection of equipment in key machine rooms, field work, sensing, optical fiber to homes, and residential backbone network wiring. The stainless steel sleeve protects the fiber optic patch cord from extrusion and rodent penetration. Another application for armored fiber optic patch cord is in data centers, providing flexible interconnections for active devices, passive optical devices, and cross connections.
