15 times more accurate and 10 times faster thermal response temperature sensor(※Patent Pending)

Features

SEMITEC has developed an ultra-accurately measuring active temperature sensor in joint research with Hirosaki University and the National Institute of Technology Hachinohe College.

  • This is a unique sensor device that incorporates several highly accurate micro thin-film FT series thermistors together with a unique control system.

  • This sensor is 15 times more accurate and has a 10 times faster thermal response compared to Semitec's previous highest-performance temperature sensor.

  • The measurement of extremely minute temperature changes at ultra-high speed enables the user to detect minute changes in the physical properties of the object.

For example, this sensor could be used for non-invasive early and definitive diagnosis of skin cancers even before a biopsy of the affected area is required.

Comparison of saturated temperature and response time

Semitec's previous highest performance temperature sensor takes 3.3s to reach 34.8℃ (thermal equilibrium) and still does not quite reach the final object temperature. However, the Ultra-accurate Active Measurement Temperature Sensor takes only 0.3s to reach 35℃.

Application example

  • Diagnostic equipment for skin cancer

Until now, it has not been able to detect minute differences in physical properties between cancerous skin and normal skin. The measurement of extremely minute temperature changes at ultra-high speed enables us to detect such minor differences and makes it possible to diagnose skin cancers by contact only.

Future application examples

  • Determining internal conditions inside an object

Trying to find any anomalies such as deterioration inside equipment using non-destructive testing.

  • Ultra-precise surface temperature measurement

Helping to make the thermal design of electrical devices easier leading to weight and energy savings.

  • Estimating internal temperatures

Trying to estimate the internal temperature of an object (that currently is not possible) by extremely accurate measurement of the surface temperature.
