SEMITEC “Local” and “Consuming Area” Production that Meet ISO9001 Standards
Electric appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air
conditioners, microwave ovens, eco-friendly water heaters, and warm
water toilet seats became essential for convenient living. Thermistors
are widely used in these home appliances and housing equipment and are
especially indispensable for equipment requiring temperature adjustment.
On the other hand, many consumer electronics products are sold at mass
retailers, and there is demand for cheaper products offering the same
performance.
For this reason, production was transferred overseas (China) from Japan in the early 1990s to begin lower-cost production. At the beginning of the transfer, there were many problems, and it was a challenge to produce products of the same quality as in Japan.
Efforts to address challenges
SEMITEC acquired international quality management standards such as
ISO9001 at SEMITEC Chinese plants and improved quality by establishing a
quality assurance system that complies with quality manuals. By
acquiring international quality management standards at each
manufacturing base and establishing a quality assurance system that
complies with the Group’s quality manuals, SEMITEC is now able to supply
products of the same quality from any of SEMITEC bases in Japan, China, the
Philippines, Vietnam, and India.
As a result, SEMITEC products are being adopted by and delivered to not only Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers but also consumer electronics manufacturers around the world.
