Here is the Introduction of the PCI industrial connector.

PCI is the abbreviation of peripheral component interconnect (external component interconnect standard). It is a common socket in personal computers. Almost all kinds of motherboard devices have such slots.

PCI slot is also a variety of slots on the motherboard. On the popular desktop motherboard, the motherboard with ATX structure generally has 5 ~ 6 PCI slots, while the smaller mATX motherboard also has 2 ~ 3 PCI slots, which shows its wide application.

PCI is a local bus introduced by Intel in 1991. Structurally, PCI is a primary bus inserted into the CPU and the original system bus. It is managed by the bridge circuit, and the upper and lower interfaces coordinate the data transmission. The manager provides signal buffering to enable it to support 10 external devices and maintain high performance at high clock frequencies. It provides connecting sockets for video cards, sound cards, network cards, modem, and other equipment, and the working frequency is 33MHz/66MHz.

The PCI bus first proposed works below 33MHz frequency, and the transmission bandwidth reaches 133 MB/S (33mhzx32bit/8), which basically meets the development needs of processors at that time. In 1993, a 64-bit PCI bus was proposed, and then the PCI bus frequency was raised to 66MHz. 32-bit, 33MHz PCI bus, and 64-bit PCI slot are mostly used for server equipment.
