ROHM Awarded by the General Incorporated Association ABINC for Its Green Space Management
Green space around the head office. has been highly evaluated for the efforts to consider biodiversity, and has acquired the "Association for Business Innovation in harmony with Nature and Community Certification" sponsored by the General Incorporated Association for Business Innovation in harmony with Nature and Community (ABINC) .
ABINC certification system has started in 2014. third parties evaluates how the organization manages and utilizes green spaces in consideration of biodiversity.
They are evaluated based on the "Guidelines for Promotion of ABINC" developed by General Incorporated Association Japan Business Initiative for Biodiversity (JBIB).
Action toward biodiversity and the aggressive greening activities around the site were highly evaluated.
"Green space management and its background"
ROHM has been headquartered in Kyoto since it was founded in the 1960s. It was initially a small resistor factory, but as the scale of business expanded such as entering into semiconductors, the site and the factory have gradually grown larger. However, an increase in inorganic factories throughout the town leads to harming the scenery.
To address this issue, the plan to improve greenery around the company's headquarters was established based on the strong desire to "always place importance on building trust with the local community." The concept is the "factory in the forest." With the aim of creating scenery that enables passersby to feel the seasons, ROHM has planted a variety of trees providing color throughout the four seasons, and also worked to build footpaths. In 1995, we started illumination to let local people enjoy the scenery even once the leaves have fallen and there is an increased sense of loneliness in winter. Now, people are able to enjoy the scenery through all four seasons, with cherry blossoms and new growth in spring, vibrant green in summer, golden rows of trees in autumn and trees lining the streets lit with the warm light of illumination in winter.In addition, another concept of "factory in the forest" is harmony with nature.
Natural capital is an important management resource for a company. ROHM Group recognizes that it is able to conduct business activities due to the blessings of nature created by biological diversity, and sees passing the global environment onto the next generation in good condition to be its responsibility.
The "factory in the forest" is an initiative aimed at harmony with natural cycles, and the many trees lining the streets provide resting places for birds and homes for living things, providing a forest for plants and animals to live in within the city.
We recognize that the materials, energy and other resources that are necessary for our production activities are greatly blessed with various gifts from the Earth and its biodiversity.
With this thought, at all of our business locations, we conduct environmental activities in harmony with natural surroundings, to ensure a better environment for the next generation.
