Control Cabinet Construction 4.0 – Digital Device Data from METZ CONNECT
Industry 4.0 is already a reality in many areas. The basic prerequisite for this is digital device data. They form the basis for consistent and virtual engineering. Tomorrow's designer can access standardized and fully digitized device data from METZ CONNECT for his entire value chain, i.e. from product creation to production. With the high-quality and refined EPLAN article data, design and manufacture of the control cabinet can save up to 30 % in costs.
With 225 further data records from the P|Cabling area, METZ CONNECT is continuously expanding its article database in the EPLAN data portal. The new data package has been available in the EPLAN data portal since May 2019 and includes data records from the product series:
junction boxes and mounting rail adapters
patch fields
patch cables & lines
plugs and sockets for network cabling
plugs & sockets for the printed circuit boards
Furthermore, the existing product line of the C | Logline range is completed by further I / O fieldbus modules, control cabinet components and the new industrial relays. How does the EPLAN user get the METZ CONNECT EPLAN data?
1. EPLAN data portal
In addition to the existing data records in the EPLAN data
portal, a web- or browser-based electronic manufacturer catalog with
over 270 device manufacturers, the new article data is available with
the manufacturer code "MCT".
2. METZ CONNECT Website
All EPLAN data sets are either available in a bundled form,
sorted by product area, in the download area on the METZ CONNECT website
or available directly from the article.
The digital device data from METZ CONNECT contain the following attributes:
► Logic data
Circuit
diagram macros and function templates with all relevant connection
information such as cable cross-sections, pin assignment etc.
► 2D and all 3D data
Geometrical data such as dimensional drawings of the housings for the control cabinet assembly and virtual wiring
► Manufacturing data
Drilling and mounting holes for the devices for installation in the control cabinet
► Commercial data
With all order information for an automatic procurement process
► Multilingualism
All article information and documents are stored in multiple languages (DE / EN / FR)
► Documents
All documents such as data sheets are linked directly to the article and can be used for control cabinet documentation
The advantages at a glance
Significant time savings during project planning
Virtual wiring of the construction
Fully automatic CNC controlled switch cabinet processing
Data integration and merging in ERP and PLM systems
The "digital twin" is becoming a reality
In control cabinet construction, individual work steps
such as drilling and milling, cable assembly or wiring can be automated.
The respective worker or the machine chooses the appropriate task
package and can process it independently. The basic requirement for this
is consistent and virtual engineering based on digitized device data.
Then the "digital twin" is a reality.
