Self Recovery Fuses,Self restoring fuses

Self restoring fuses are a common circuit protection component in our daily lives. For commonly used air conditioners, there is a self recovery fuse used to control circuit board overcurrent, overload, and overheating protection. The self restoring fuse is composed of high-tech polymer resin and nano conductive grains through a special process. Under normal circumstances, conductive grains form a chain-like conductive path with resin connections, and the self recovery fuse operates normally; When an abnormal current is generated due to a circuit malfunction, the conductive path is disconnected, and the PTC resistance rapidly increases to limit the abnormal current, thereby protecting the precision components in the circuit from damage; After troubleshooting, the PTC returns to a low resistance state without the need for manual replacement, and the circuit returns to normal operation.

Due to its advantages such as long lifespan, sensitive response, small size, and simple installation, PTC is commonly used for overcurrent protection in circuits. So, in practice, what are the typical applications of Self Recovery Fuses? In circuits with precision instruments, there must be fuses to ensure their safety. So, what are the specific applications of PTC in circuits?

1、 Protection of input/output interfaces

Nowadays, many drives and control devices are equipped with communication and data interfaces for information transmission between system components. However, many times, the wiring of these interfaces will be laid side by side with AC or DC power cables, and these harnesses may have short circuits due to various factors. At this time, self recovery fuses can protect any system connected to this short circuit line from causing damage to the communication interface, effectively reducing the downtime and maintenance costs of common equipment faults.

2、 CPU protection

In the CPU, a voltage regulation module (VRM) is used to provide the required voltage and current to the processor. When VRM malfunctions abnormally, the processor will attempt to obtain more power. At this point, installing PTC devices on the power input pins of the VRM can protect the processor by replacing the VRM without the need to replace expensive processors.

3、 Protection against the motor stall

Moving machinery may experience blockage or fracture faults, leading to motor stalling. Continuing to supply power can cause damage to the motor or drive device. By connecting the self recovery fuse in series with the motor driver, it can protect the motor from overload and overheating caused by stalling or jamming.
