What is a Connector? and What is an Electronic Connector?
1. What is a connector?
Connectors are often contacted by electronic engineers and technicians. Its function is simple: set up a communication bridge between blocking or isolating circuits in the circuit to make the current flow and make the circuit achieve the predetermined function. The connector is an indispensable part of electronic products. On a flowing line, you can always see one or more connecting lines. The form and structure of connectors are changeable. There are various connectors, such as an applicable object, frequency, power, application environment, and so on. For example, the connector for lighting the stadium is very different from the connector for hard disk and the connector for ignition rocket. However, no matter what kind of connection mode, it is necessary to ensure a smooth, continuous, and reliable flow of current.
With the rapid development of optical fiber connectors, optical fiber connectors can not only replace the general signal transmission system but also replace the signal transmission system with optical fiber connectors.
2. Second, what is an electronic connector?
This connector consists of two parts: plug-in and connection. Although the two can be completely separated, the same point between the switch and the connector is to realize the conversion of the circuit by changing the contact state of each other. The most fundamental difference is that the connector has only two states: plug-in and pull-out. The switch can realize circuit conversion on its body. The connector cannot be converted on the body, and the contact of the connector should be fixed.
The technical indicators of the plug-in are similar to those of the switch, such as contact resistance, insulation resistance, withstand voltage, torque, and service life. The service life is usually much lower than that of the switch, but the contact reliability is much higher than that of the switch.
In transportation, communication, network, medical treatment, household appliances, and other industries, the technical level of supporting products has developed rapidly, and the market has grown rapidly, which has played a strong role in promoting the development of connector technology. So far, the connector has developed into a complete range of products, rich varieties, and specifications, diverse structural forms, subdivided professional directions, obvious industry characteristics, and serialized product standard system.
The development of connector technology has the characteristics of fast signal transmission speed, fast digitization, the comprehensive transmission of various signals, small product volume, low product cost, characterization of connection and termination mode, modular combination, convenient plugging, and other characteristics.
