Influence of Terminal Selection and Electroplating Selection on Connector Performance
As electronic devices become lighter and more sophisticated, consumers have relatively high requirements for electronic connectors, including high reliability, small volume, fast data transmission performance, and so on.
The most common convenience of an electronic connector is that in the circuit, the connector is useful to the circuit board on the circuit board, and the connector is useful to the wire or wire on the vehicle harness. In addition to the circuit, there are some places that need connectors such as industrial equipment, vehicles, and airlines.
The most important part of the electronic connector and the terminal of the contact part. This terminal is equivalent to a small and medium-sized connector. Connect some equipment with the same or different characteristics, so that some components can work smoothly or the current can flow smoothly. In this way, the whole equipment can work normally. Most of the raw materials of this wiring terminal are different. Due to the different performance and environmental effects of common places, the selection fee may also be different. Some must be metal materials, some must be plastic, some must be liquid and some must be solid. In short, the choice depends on the details.
Connector terminal coating is the key to ensuring the stable application of electronic connectors
When selecting the terminal coating of the electronic connector, it is important to consider the application of the natural environment. The connector key is divided into three conditions. For general use, tinning is the most common. Tin is relatively cheap, but the material tin is relatively soft. In order to ensure good contact, the contact force (at least 100g) must be very high, and the plug frequency is generally very low. It has only a simple defensive anti-corrosion effect and is effective. For high insertion frequencies, plating is usually required. For higher operating temperatures, other coatings are required, such as 340 degrees, nickel plating on copper or brass.
For the application of small data signals with high reliability of connector terminals, the application of small contact force is specified. Electroplating is generally selected, and the corrosion resistance of gold is also very prominent. Nickel is generally the bottom layer of electroplating, and most of the steel contact parts are used for nickel plating (copper plating is the first step). Tungsten has worse conductivity than gold and is often used instead of gold plating. Now the price of gold continues to rise, and there are more and more nickel alloy products. The conductivity of silver-plated contact points is very good, but silver is easily oxidized in the air, which can only be used in special cases.
