Si834x –Quad PLC Output Driver

The Si834x-IF provides four output drivers for 24 V based inductive loads such as solenoids and relays used in PLC based

control systems with integrated safety rated isolation of 2.5 kVrms. The Si834x-IS are non-isolated drivers. The input interface

is based on Silicon Laboratories’ ground breaking CMOS based isolation technology which enables easy interface to low voltage

2.25V MCU’s and the ability to accommodate high data rates of up to 1 Mbps for servo motor control on some product options.

This technology enables high CMTI (25 kV/µs), reduced variation with temperature and age and tighter part-to-part matching.

The outputs provide a continuous 0.7A drive capability for either high side or low side inductive loads, depending on the product

option. These have integrated active clamps to minimize transients and protect the drivers when switching such loads.

Product features include over-current and over-temperature detection and shutdown circuit and diagnostic capability for detecting

open wires when in OFF state and short circuit when in ON state. These diagnostics can be available as grouped for all

four channels or channel specific via an SPI interface on some product options. Status LEDs can be connected to the Si834x

which indicate the true status of the output (ON/OFF or fault condition). Daisy chain capability for a total of 128 channels (32x

Si834x) is also possible with the SPI option. The Si834x offers longer service life and dramatically higher reliability compared

to other solutions.
