The *VPItoolkit™ ML Framework* is an add-on for the VPIphotonics Design Suite™ that facilitates the implementation and design of deep neural networks (DNNs) for various applications such as equalization, nonlinearity compensation, optical system mitigation, device characterization, evaluation models, and inverse design of photonic devices. It allows users to build predictive models based on training data sets, supports seamless manipulation of digital, electrical, and optical signals, and provides a user-friendly interface for manipulating model parameters and enhancing convergence constraints. The framework supports the storage of large, complex, and heterogeneous data in an open-source file format (HDF5) and offers benefits such as easy data collection, seamless integration, on-the-fly simulations, and easy access to DNN hyperparameters.
