Type VR Removable Shorting Device for Use with MASTERCLAD® Switchgear Instruction Bulletin
■This bulletin provides installation, removal, and maintenance instructions for the 3000 A Type VR removable shorting device (RSD) manufactured by Square D. The Type VR RSD is a horizontal draw out auxiliary device designed for use with MASTERCLAD® switchgear. Each RSD is designed specifically for use with a designated switchgear compartment. Check and compare the identification number on the nameplate located on the front panel of the device to identify the intended switchgear.
■The RSD provides an economical means to connect line and load terminations in MASTERCLAD switchgear. However, it does not have the interrupting or closing, and latching capability of a circuit breaker. It has the full momentary and short-time rating as the switchgear for which it is intended. It is often used to temporarily connect a circuit or bus section to the main bus.
■The RSD consists of a Type VR circuit breaker frame with the same dimensions, primary contacts, and wheels as the standard 3000 A Type VR circuit breaker. Refer to instruction bulletin 6055-30 for information about the MASTERCLAD metal-clad switchgear or instruction bulletin 6055-33 for information about the Type VR vacuum circuit breaker rated for 3000 A.
