B280/B480 Line Surge Protection Installation Instructions
●Basic rules :
■The way line/equipment has to be respected (see diagram)
■Imperative connection to earth.
■The selection of the protection model has to be adapted to the type of protected line .
●Earth connection :
■The length of the eath network connection conductro must be as short as possible : inf. to 0,5 m .
■Minimum section of the earth connection cable : 4 mm².
■The protection must be connected to the same earth than the protected equipment.
■The equipotentiality, between the protection and the protected equipment, must be done by the shortest way (see diagram).
●Location :
■The protection box, in general, installed at the entrance of the installation (connection box to external network), but regarding these following points :
▲Respect of the "Equipotentiality" rule.
▲Overvoltage trouble can happen inside the installation (coupling with the AC network..)
■In these case, an installation near the protected equipment is recommended.
●Maintenance:
■The B280/B480 box is maintenance free.
■Following action on a transient overvoltage, the product goes into his initial state.
●Otherwise, 2 cases of devinitive destruction can happen :
■Transient energy greater than the protection specifications (i.e. : following a "lightning" impact very close).
■Breakdown on a long duration overvoltage (i.e. : direct contact between the transmission line and AC voltage Line).
■In these two cases, the protection will go into short circuit to earth, warming the user of the trouble : this one will have to replace the protection.
