Type GA Ground-Censor® Ground-fault Protection System Class 0940
■The Type GA Ground-Censor ground-fault protection system is designed for specific applications such as 600 V motor control circuits, mining circuit breakers, etc. fed by a grounded source. It will not detect the first ground-fault on an ungrounded source. It can be used with Type S starters and motor control centers. The system consists of specially constructed current transformers (sensors) in a variety of sizes, and a solid state electronic relay providing both normally closed and normally open contacts which may be wired into the control circuit of the motor starter controlling the protected circuit.
■Two types of relays are offered: Instantaneous operating and time-delay.
▲The time-delay relay is field adjustable from instantaneous to 36 cycles.
▲The relay handle moves to a "tripped" position when the relay operates and is manually reset in a manner similar to a circuit breaker.
▲The relay handle is "trip free" and cannot be reset in the presence of a ground-fault condition.
▲No external source of power to the relay is required to accomplish transfer of its output contacts.
▲External power is required to shunt trip a circuit breaker.
