OpDAT patch cord MPO/MTP®

2020-12-28
Product specification:
MPO/MTP® patch cords are mainly used in data centers with transmission rates of 10, 40 or 100 Gbit/s. They are used to connect distribution technology, e.g. 19" panels, to active components such as servers or switches.
The MPO FO connector type is a multi-fiber connector in accordance with IEC 61754-7, in which several fibers are arranged in parallel in a rectangular ferrule ("parallel optics"). In order to position these fibers in front of each other with high precision in a connector-in connection, a connector with 2 pins (= "male") is always plugged together with a connec-tor with 2 holes (= "female") in an adapter. The necessary patch cords with female connectors on both sides are most commonly used in MPO/MTP® systems, while trunk cables or active components are provided with male connectors.
In the case of a multi-fiber system, the correct interconnection or orientation must always be ensured. For this reason, the type of polarity must be specified when ordering to ensure the continuity of the branch circuit throughout the cabling.
METZ CONNECT exclusively uses USCONEC connectors and adapters, whose optimized MPO variants are known under the trade name MTP®. From the MTP® product family, only connectors with Elite® ferrules are used. These have excel-lent values for insertion loss and return loss. All MM-MTP®connectors are flat polished, while all SM-MTP® connectors are angled polished (APC).
