Z-Wave Certification Overview
This document describes how manufacturers get their product Z Wave certified in order to ensure interoperability.
This document covers Z-Wave Plus Certification for 500 series devices and QFN Certification for custom ASIC implementations. It also introduces the new Z-wave Plus v2 Certification program which is optional for 500 series devices but mandatory for 700 series devices. The terms “Z-Wave” and “Z-Wave Certification” apply to both Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Plus v2 in the context of this document. Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Plus v2 will be addressed separately where differences occur.
Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to instruct OEM customers how to certify their Z-Wave enabled products and to help guide and document the certification process for individual products.
An End-of-Life notification for the 300 series modules and SoCs was published on December 22, 2016 with a December 29, 2017 Last Time Buy date. Acceptance of new device certification submissions for the 300 series (Classic Certification program) ended on April 2, 2017, however, recertifications of existing devices were still allowed if they met a specific set of parameters. This Classic Certification program has reached the end of its useful life, is now classified as obsolete and no additional recertifications will be allowed. Further references to the Classic Certification program for 300 series devices have been removed from this document since they are no longer relevant.
Z-Wave Plus and Z-Wave Plus v2 devices must be submitted for certification in an interactive, web-based process. A company and user account will be needed to access the portal. Requests for new accounts must be submitted via the online support system and include the company name, company location (country) user's first & last name and their e-mail address.
