Various control applications based on wireless modules are realized through communication interfaces. The wireless module provides UART and several GPIO interfaces. GPIO and PWM can be used for intelligent control, and UART and SPI interfaces are used for device communication. Among them, the theoretical rate of the SPI interface can reach a quarter of the system bus rate. It is much higher than UART, GPIO, and other interfaces, and is widely used in high-speed communication.

For the high-speed communication needs in various applications, SKYLAB has launched a variety of WiFi modules that support the SPI interface. SKYLAB introduces several  IoT WIFI Modules that support the SPI interface through this article.


What is the SPI WiFi module?

SPI interface is a synchronous serial communication method proposed by MOTOROLA. It is mainly used for high-speed, serial communication between microprocessors and peripheral devices. It can be directly connected to a variety of standard peripheral devices produced by various manufacturers. These include FLASH RAM, network controllers, LCD display drivers, A/D converters, and MCUs.


SKYLAB SPI interface WiFi modules include SKW77, SKW78, SKW92A, SKW92B, SKW93A, and other products.


High Power Drone WiFi Module SKW77

SKW77 is a high-power wifi router solution module. The module is compatible with 802.11b/g/n, RF adopts 2x2 MIMO, the maximum rate can reach 300Mbps. wifi module internal integration of two-way PA and LNA, each transmitter output power up to +28dBm or more. The effective data transmission distance in open areas can reach more than 1000 meters. Users can easily realize long-distance data transmission with it.


1000Mbps WiFi Module SKW78

SKW78 is a 1000Mbps high-speed wireless router module. The module is compliant with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi standard. It integrates 3 Gigabit speed WAN ports or LAN ports, 2xMIMO 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n WIFI, and 2xMIMO 5GHz 802.11a/g/n/ac WIFI. A 3.3V supply is all that is required on the electronic device.


2x2 MIMO WiFi Module SKW92A

The SKW92A integrates an 802.11n MAC and baseband, a 2.4GHz wireless radio, and a front-end module. It also has a 580MHz MIPS CPU, and a high-speed Ethernet PHY. And it requires only a 3.3V external power supply for the WiFi module to operate. It is suitable for low power consumption, low cost, and high integration AP electronic devices.


IOT AP WiFi Module SKW92B

The main chip of SKW92B is MT7688A of the MTK platform, which is a 1T1R wireless device compliant with 802.11n Wi-Fi standards. It contains a 580MHz MIPS CPU, 1x High-Speed Ethernet PHY, 1x USB2.0 host device, I2C/PCM, and multiple low-speed IOS. SKW92B provides two working modes including IOT gateway and IOT device mode.


3x3 MIMO WLAN WiFi Module SKW93A

SKW93A is a high-performance and highly integrated wireless AP WiFi module.SKW93A can work on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual bands simultaneously. In the 2.4G band, it can transmit up to 300Mbps, and in the 5G band, it can transmit up to 433Mbps. The WiFi module transmits high-definition video in real time.SKW93A module supports AP, Client, Repeater, and Serial WiFi.


If you want to use it as a gateway with an SPI interface WiFi module, you can choose WiFi module SKW92.


If it is a WiFi module with an SPI interface you want to use for big data transmission, you can choose SKW78 or SKW93A.


If it's a WiFi module with an SPI interface you want to use for long-distance video transmission, you can choose SKW77.
