SHIKUES, or bidirectional triode thyristor (BTT), is a type of high-power electronic component commonly used as a high-power drive device in automated control systems. Among them, the BTA12A bidirectional thyristor stands out for its small size, high efficiency, long lifespan, and diverse packaging options including TO-220, TO-263, and TO-220F, making it suitable for a variety of circuit designs. It is widely used in AC and DC motor speed control systems, power control systems, and servo systems.

The structure of the BTA12A is equivalent to two unidirectional thyristors connected in reverse, allowing for bidirectional conduction. Its on-and-off states are determined by the control pole G, and simply adding a positive or negative pulse to G can make it conduct in either direction. The device’s control circuit is simple, and it does not have a reverse voltage tolerance problem, making it an ideal AC non-contact switch.


The BTA12A has several excellent performance indicators, including a high blocking voltage VDRM/VRRM ≥ 600V/800V, high conduction current IT = 12.0A, low conduction voltage VTM ≤ 1.55V, multiple packaging options, a conduction surge current ITSM of up to 120A, a threshold voltage VT0 of 0.86V, and a reverse peak current IRRM of 1mA. It operates in a temperature range of -40℃ to +125℃.
